Michael Gyngell

Michael has worked as an actor, writer 

and director during his long career.

Recent work includes: Directing a couple of new plays ‘Not In The Mood For Quiche Anymore’ & ‘A Guy Called Scott Crawls under A Table And Wont Come Out’ at the Barons Court Theatre. 

Prior to that he directed the recent acclaimed tour of ‘The Full Monty’ as well as the UK tours of ‘Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense’, ‘Yes Prime Minister’, ‘When Harry Met Sally’ and ‘The Play What I Wrote’. 

Other work includes: ‘Clittaford’ (St James Church, Piccadilly) ‘Relatively Speaking’, ‘Confusions’ (South Africa), ‘Summer Holiday’ (Theatre Royal Plymouth) ‘Urinetown’ (Stratford Circus) ‘The Multiverse’ (Waterloo East Theatre). ‘These Thoughts’ (Short Film), ‘Universe’ (P&O Arvia) ‘If You See My Dad’ (Barons Court Theatre).


As an actor his work includes - Peter Pan, Poppy (RSC Barbican), West Side Story (Her Majesty’s), Exclusive (Strand), Merry Wives of Windsor, The Silver King (Chichester Festival Theatre), From Choices to Chocolates (Riverside Studios), The Rink (Cambridge), Richard II (Oldham Coliseum),  Art (Whitehall) The Maids, Family Voices, Leave Him to Heaven, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham) One Touch of Venus (Kings Head).

Michael co-wrote the stage adaptation of ‘Summer Holiday’ and wrote ‘Double Top’ (Valentine Productions/BBC Wales) ‘Serena’ (SMG). He also wrote the books for ‘Club Tropicana’ (UK Tour) 
‘Close Encounters’ (Century City, Los Angeles ) Digital, X, Universe (P&O Cruises) and the musical revue The Multiverse (Waterloo East Theatre.)
